about

My brother moved to America for University when I was only 16. We lived in the type of village that we either got along or got lonely. We were best mates. Not having him around wasn't easy to deal with though, and my feelings lead me to write him this song. Fortunately, we're still best mates.

lyrics

Thinking back to days gone by
With open fields and open skies
Open minds no questions why

Long before, you reached new shores
And we had found, uncommon ground

Lately we have seen such change
Kids and partners re-arranged
Priorities that seemed so strange

Long before, you reached new shores
And we had found, uncommon ground

I used to think that we would play
together til our distant days
Share the things that we would see,
And be there til eternity
Travelled over foreign sand &
visit every distant land but
Sadly we would say, life got I the way

Brother let's step back in time,
and play the games we used to find,
Amusing in our childish minds

Long before, you reached new shores
And we had found, uncommon ground

But everything that we could say'd
have gotten in our friendship's way
& torn us further still apart
& finished off our broken hearts
It's what made us what we've become,
we stared fear in the face and won
We're stronger in the end
My brother & my best friend

Let gaps between stand aside
Enchanting memories be our guide
Because no ocean is too wide
For you and me, we will see,
That we have found, our common ground
