about

The song that got it all going. My brother called me at work about me writing some music that hinted towards Addison being born, everything before and everything after. The phrase "shoot the bear" stood out to me, as a metaphor for just doing the things you want, not trying to do them. Trying doesn't drop the pen (another song for another album perhaps...)

lyrics

But first we'd need material to see our music win
So I screwed up my to do list, and aimed it at the bin
The wordings in his email
Stood out like Rudolph's nose in hail
And written in such clear detail
Shoot the bear

Don't take my title literally it's just a metaphor
For putting down a way of life you never could adore
Before time takes it's toll and spirals you into a bore
Shoot the bear, don't try it, try it, shoot the bear

Don't get me wrong, I'm not someone who'll tell you what to do
And certainly don't take a gun and shoot a bear or two
These creatures have a right to their
Existence in zoo keepers care
Or in the wild jungles where
They wouldn't stop to think about killing you for their tea if they were hungry and just about to hibernate; if that's what bears do

Don't take my title literally it's just a metaphor
For putting down a way of life you never could adore
Before time takes it's toll and spirals you into a bore
Shoot the bear, don't try it, try it, shoot the bear
