lyrics

Shoot the Bear

It started on a Sunday morning, dreary wet & cold
An unimportant milestone had left me feeling old
When all it took, a call came through,
And changed my inside shade of blue
My brother on the other end
who'd only gone and planned to take the world

We talked away ten minutes, with idol shots at sense
Missed it all with friendly fire while sitting on the fence
My strategy was simple,
it fell into my hands
My smile made a dimple,
and this is what we planned

Don't take my title literally it's just a metaphor
For putting down a way of life you never could adore
Before time takes it's toll and spirals you into a bore
Shoot the bear, don't try it, try it, shoot the bear

Well he told me of an email he was imminent to send
To a crazy German record man who's skills we're round the bend
His music came in flavours and
You chose acoustic or with the band,
Or with his nerdy mac in hand
Depending on the desired location and the personage who were hosted in said venue at any given time on certain days of the year

But first we'd need material to see our music win
So I screwed up my to do list, and aimed it at the bin
The wordings in his email
Stood out like Rudolph's nose in hail
And written in such clear detail
Shoot the bear

Don't take my title literally it's just a metaphor
For putting down a way of life you never could adore
Before time takes it's toll and spirals you into a bore
Shoot the bear, don't try it, try it, shoot the bear

Don't get me wrong, I'm not someone who'll tell you what to do
And certainly don't take a gun and shoot a bear or two
These creatures have a right to their
Existence in zoo keepers care
Or in the wild jungles where
They wouldn't stop to think about killing you for their tea if they were hungry and just about to hibernate; if that's what bears do

Don't take my title literally it's just a metaphor
For putting down a way of life you never could adore
Before time takes it's toll and spirals you into a bore
Shoot the bear, don't try it, try it, shoot the bear
