about

Written and composed by Philip Pearson - Addison's Uncle

lyrics

In Earnest I'll leave in the morning as the dawn is rising
Head from these hills to my home land on my old Fords Farm

My Wife and my children await me they are sleeping soundly
In acres of land on the coastline at our Norfolk home

But all of my journey is tainted with worry for I did not get there alone
The one I depend on my four legged friend's gone
to already find his way home

I'll follow you back down this loneliest road
with worry and guilt as my ominous load
what ever endeavours where ever I roam
I'm relieved when I see you at home yes I am
I'm relieved when I see you at home

My pockets are heavily loaded I'm returning wealthy
for my cattle did all sell at market sad to see them go

so I'll tread back the trails that I took here through the hills and valleys
return to the inns that had kept us pay the debts we owe

And each next inn keeper can feed my relief as I pay for the food we have had
'coz I know you've been here you had a good feed there it sounds like you'll make it my lad

I'll follow you back down this loneliest road
with worry and guilt as my ominous load
what ever endeavours where ever I roam
I'm relieved when I see you at home yes I am
I'm relieved when I see you at home

And I can't describe all the feelings inside as you bark when I enter the door
lets sit by the fire contented and tired for I need to worry no more

I'll follow you back down this loneliest road
with worry and guilt as my ominous load
what ever endeavours where ever I roam
I'm relieved when I see you at home yes I am
I'm relieved when I see you

I'll follow you back down this loneliest road
with worry and guilt as my ominous load
what ever endeavours where ever I roam
I'm relieved when I see you at home
